Listiq AI and Car Mods AI — new wheels and backgrounds on your car photo
Listiq AI helps used-car sellers make better listings. Car Mods AI is its mobile app for trying wheels, wraps and backgrounds on your own car photo. Both are served by the same API.
Car Mods AI is available on the App Store and Google Play.
What we built
Web service and API
The web service and a versioned JSON API (/api/v1) that serves both mobile apps.
iOS app
A native iOS app with purchases through the App Store.
Android app
A native Android app; Google Play purchases are verified on the server before credits are granted.
AI and computer vision
AI identifies the car and its damage and edits images, with a second AI service as fallback. Background removal and wheel segmentation run on the product's own servers.
Background jobs and storage
A queue for background jobs, the database, and image storage in the EU.
Hosting
Containers on servers in Helsinki — the database and vision services included.
What was hard
The car must not change
The photo may be improved, the car may not: the AI prompts forbid altering the vehicle, and wheels are fitted to points measured from the photo.
Three platforms, one truth
Web, iPhone and Android share the same API. App store purchases and card payments on the web credit the same user, and the same purchase can never be credited twice.
AI costs under control
Paid image edits sit behind daily spending limits.
